  Insurance & Payment
Dr. Sexton, Facebook

Payment is expected at time of service.

If you have insurance benefits, you will be expected to make a payment for the estimated portion not covered by your insurance plan.

We offer these payment options:

  • Cash
  • Personal Check
  • Credit Card - We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.

Our office will file insurance claims for both "in network" and "out of network"plans. If we are "out of network" for your plan, make sure your plan has "out of network" benefits.

Dr. Sexton is double-boarded as both a Pedodontist (children's dentist) and Orthodontist (braces for children). He is listed as a "Specialist" and not a "General Dentist". We file insurance for both specialties if you have the benefits available.

Dental insurance is intended to cover some but not all of the cost of your dental care. Most plans include coinsurance provisions, a deductible and certain other expenses, that must be paid by the patient at the time of services.

Insurance plans have different percentage levels of benefits. Different yearly maximums, deductibles, age limits and frequencies. As a courtesy we will file for you but it is important you understand the above limitations.

Tallahassee, FL office:

Thomasville, GA office:

Pedodontics & Orthodontic
Humana / CompBenefits:

Benefits vary with each individual plan for Orthodontics and Pedodontic services.

Please call our office to verify we are a provider for your plan.

If you do not have any of the plans listed above, we will file for you if you are allowed to go "out of network". Please be aware that if we are considered an "out of network" dentist, your out-of-pocket expense could be more. This is because your insurance may reduce our fees and pass the difference on to you.

We also recommend that you become aware of your benefit, deductibles, maximums and copays.

STATE OF Florida employees;

The Humana 4054 will not be offered in 2018.

We are not in network for any of the State Plans offered for 2018…. HOWEVER GOOD NEWS IS….. The state is offering 2 plans that have good "out of network" benefits that work at our office. They are Ameritas and Met Life

Each of these plans offer 3 different levels and percentages of benefits. The top 2 levels offer orthodontic and dental benefits. The PREVENTIVE plans have limited "dental" benefits but no "orthodontic".

The Ameritas 4021 (Indemnity w/PPO) is the most "comparable" in benefits to what the Humana 4054 PPO plan offered for both orthodontic and dental work BUT with better benefits.

It is important you research each plan to determine which carrier and "level" works best for your family.

If you have additional questions please go to your HR department for plan details.
